SEIU Local 1 has been on the forefront of building the power of low-wage workers in service industries and fighting for economic, racial, immigrant and environmental justice. We are now hiring a Data Specialist to transfer information from paper and electronic files into electronic data systems. Also, to oversee the entire conversion process, working closely with others to ensure the data is accurate and accessible.
Analyze and Verify Data
Data Specialists begin a data conversion process by conducting a thorough data analysis of information. They research data sources and make corrections to existing data as needed to ensure accuracy of the information being recorded.
Create a Digital Conversion Process
A Data Specialist analyzes existing data and processes and creates an approach suitable for data. In some cases, a Data Specialist may design an innovative approach or process to convert data or make processes more efficient and effective, resulting in higher data quality.
Generate Reports
Data Specialists must consistently provide status reports regarding the progress of data updates to databases and applications. Also, the Data Specialist must extract data from complex databases and applications, and present reports and findings in many forms and formats to diverse audiences ranging from organizers to leadership.
Provide Technical Support and Assistance
A Data Specialist will train others in the use of supporting data processes, applications, or approaches to data. Data Specialists also maintain data quality and answer questions users might have regarding the data and processes.
Primary Responsibilities:● Process member information to ensure the highest quality data.● Import and export data between other software applications (Like Excel) and the Local 1 membership database.● Assist in creation of reports and analysis for campaign leadership.● Contribute to a data stewardship culture, maintain data integrity and quality.● Organize workflows around member data submissions.● Coach coworkers around data and technology.● Assist in events, event registration, member research and identification for reporting.● Other projects and duties as assigned.Qualifications:
· Strong attention to detail and the ability to organize and set priorities.
· Solid analytical and critical thinking skills.
· Planning, facilitation, organizational and critical thinking skills are also beneficial.
· Experience in a data role.
· Bachelor’s degree/current student or 4+ years of appropriate experience.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel & Word.
· Proficiency with Microsoft SQL, Python, and other programming languages is a plus.
· Experience in facilitation and coaching is a plus.
· Experience with EveryAction NGP VAN or Unionware is a plus.
SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Salary is competitive and negotiable ranging from 60,000 - $73,000 (based on the Staff Union Contract).
